Some Thoughts And Feelings March 10

And here are some thoughts and feelings, all my own:
Like men like to watch Sachin play and women like to watch Virat Kohli. For different reasons, no doubt!
Like I can’t make up my mind if the use of the word ‘Aamsutra’ in a mango juice ad is proper or …hmmm….good taste. Perhaps such thoughts occur only to old men!
Like buying a new gadget is not all pleasure; it is mixed with the pain of learning to operate it. Buy a new mobile phone to experience it.
Like why can’t mobile companies standardise chargers? If they do, it will add to customer delight!
Like we have in India some super-rich people like Raja, Kalmadi, Hasan Ali, Arvind Bhosale who have plenty of ill gotten wealth. It looks as if, in India, ‘Every rich man has a past and every poor a future!’ after all there is so much corruption.
Like the research in Denmark shows “when male CEOs had daughters, their female employees’ wages went up 1.3 percent while their male employees only gained 0.8 percent raises.” So CEO Dads turn Gender sensitive! I wonder what happens in India. [There are questions about validity of this study; one of the observations is that it happens only if the first born child is a girl!]
Like there is a proposal to mandate appointment of women directors on company’s Board of Directors which is so long overdue. And in spite of it the CEO daughters may not find a place on the Board in Indian businesses.
Like the p[f]light of Nidhi Gupta who was a well educated lady and a professor highlights the trap a marriage can create for a woman. And it also brings in sharp focus how she moves away from her parental family who have no clue to her thoughts and feelings.
And finally Delhi is a very unsafe city for women; there are no two opinions about it, Sheila Dixit says it too. The other unsafe cities [in random order] are Chennai, Kochi, Trivandrum, Bangalore, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Patiala, Jalandhar, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Gwalior, Indore, Bhopal, Ranchi, Madurai, Varanasi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Shillong, Pune, Mumbai…….
